1 Scope & Definitions

This Privacy Policy describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of your information when you access the Mesob Recipes website (mesob.binaryabyssinia.com) and our mobile applications available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store (collectively, the "Service"), operated by BinaryAbyssinia ("we", "us", or "our").

By downloading, installing, browsing, or interacting with the Service, you consent to the data practices outlined in this Privacy Policy.

2 Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to deliver authentic Ethiopian and Eritrean recipes, nutritional details, bilingual culinary instructions, and personalized favorites:

Voluntary Information

When you contact us, submit recipe feedback, or subscribe to our cultural newsletter, we collect your name and email address.

Device & Usage Analytics

Device model, operating system version (iOS/Android), unique device identifiers, language preference (English/Amharic), and app interaction metrics.

Offline Bookmarks & Storage

Recipes bookmarked as favorites are saved locally on your device using local storage / Hive database so you can access them without internet access. This data remains on your physical device.

3 Mobile Advertising & Third-Party SDKs (Google AdMob)

Mobile App Specific

To maintain our platform, support ongoing culinary research, and keep our traditional recipe catalog freely accessible to everyone around the world, our mobile applications (iOS & Android) integrate third-party advertising services powered by Google AdMob.

AdMob Advertising Formats & Data Disclosures:

Banner Ads Small stationary banners displayed unobtrusively at the bottom or top of recipe browsing screens.

Interstitial Ads Full-screen ads appearing during natural app transition points (such as returning to the home screen).

Rewarded Ads Optional video ads you may voluntarily choose to watch to unlock exclusive cooking tips or features.

Identifiers Collected: Google AdMob and certified ad partners may collect pseudonymized device identifiers (such as Apple IDFA on iOS or Google Advertising ID / GAID on Android), IP address (for coarse geographic country/city routing), and diagnostic metrics (ad loading latency and rendering errors).
Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT): On iOS 14.5 and newer, we present Apple's ATT prompt before serving personalized advertisements. You have full freedom to select "Ask App Not to Track". If declined, only non-personalized, contextual advertisements will be displayed. You can modify this setting anytime in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking > Mesob Recipes.
Google Consent & UMP (GDPR / CCPA): In regions requiring consent (such as the European Economic Area, UK, and California), we utilize Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to allow users to specify their consent preferences for ad personalization and cookie usage.
Android Ad Personalization Opt-Out: On Android devices, you can opt out of personalized advertisements by navigating to Settings > Google > Ads and toggling "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or selecting "Delete advertising ID".
Ad-Free Option: You can completely eliminate all third-party advertising in the mobile app at any time by purchasing the Mesob Pro / Ad-Free Pass in the app settings.

Mobile Device Permissions We Request & Why:

Internet & Network State To stream recipe images, synchronize updated cooking instructions, and verify in-app purchases.

Notifications (Optional) To deliver seasonal Ethiopian holiday recipes, fasting reminders, and feature alerts. Can be disabled anytime.

Local Storage (On-Device) To cache favorite recipes, custom portion preferences, and offline notes locally via encrypted Hive storage.

4 In-App Purchases (IAP) & Digital Subscriptions

StoreKit & Play Billing

Mesob Recipes offers optional premium digital items and subscriptions—such as the Ad-Free Experience, offline meal planner, and chef masterclass guides—available through In-App Purchases (IAP) on iOS and Android.

Apple StoreKit (iOS): All purchases on iOS devices are transacted exclusively via Apple's StoreKit framework. Your payment method (credit card, Apple Pay, Apple Cash) is billed directly by Apple Inc. BinaryAbyssinia never accesses, processes, or stores your financial account details or credit card information. Transactions are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Google Play Billing (Android): Android purchases and subscriptions are handled securely through Google Play Billing. Payment credentials are processed solely by Google LLC under Google's Privacy Policy.

Receipt Validation & Entitlements: When you complete an in-app purchase, our mobile app receives an encrypted cryptographic token from Apple or Google confirming payment status. This token contains no personally identifiable financial information and is used exclusively to unlock your entitlement (such as disabling ads or granting access to premium content).

Restoring Purchases Across Devices: You may restore previously purchased non-consumable items or active subscriptions on any compatible device logged into the same Apple ID or Google Play Account using the in-app "Restore Purchases" button in the app settings, at no additional charge.

5 How We Use Your Information

Provide Recipe Content: Serving 177+ traditional recipes, ingredients, culinary directions, and high-resolution food imagery.
Personalization: Remembering your serving portion adjustments, measurement scales, and language preference (Amharic / English).
Push Notifications: Sending occasional cooking inspirations or new seasonal recipes via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) when you opt in.
Service Integrity: Detecting server anomalies, monitoring application stability, and preventing unauthorized abuse.

6 Third-Party Service Providers

We collaborate with reputable third-party services that process technical data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements:

Google AdMob & Analytics Advertising network & crash monitoring.

Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) Push notifications delivery for mobile apps.

Apple StoreKit & Google Play In-App purchase and billing infrastructure.

Cloud Hosting (cPanel) Secure cloud servers and CDN infrastructure.

7 Data Retention & Security

We retain personal data (such as contact inquiries) only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes set out in this Policy. All communication with our servers is encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (HTTPS / TLS 1.3). While no transmission method over the internet is 100% immune, we implement industry safeguards to protect your information.

8 Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Our Service is intended for general audiences and cooking enthusiasts. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can promptly delete it.

9 Your Rights & Data Deletion
